How to Rotate PDF Pages
Short answer: To rotate PDF pages, open the Rotate PDF tool, choose your PDF, turn the pages that are sideways or upside down, and download the fixed file. Everything happens in your browser, with no signup and no uploads.
Few things are more annoying than opening a PDF and finding the pages sideways. It usually happens with scanned documents: a page fed into the scanner the wrong way comes out rotated, and suddenly you are tilting your head — or your device — just to read it. Sometimes only one page is wrong; sometimes a whole section is upside down. Rotating the pages fixes it for good, so the document reads the way it should for everyone you share it with. With TheEditPDF's free Rotate PDF tool, you can straighten your pages in seconds, right in your browser.
Step by step
- Open the tool — Open the Rotate PDF tool in your browser. It works on desktop and on your phone, with nothing to install.
- Choose your PDF — Select the file from your device. It opens locally in your browser, so your document is never uploaded to a server and your original file stays untouched.
- Rotate the pages that need it — Turn the sideways or upside-down pages until they read correctly. Rotate only the pages that need fixing — pages that are already the right way up can stay exactly as they are.
- Download and check the result — Download the fixed file and flip through it once to confirm every page now reads the right way up. If a page is still off, run your original through the tool again — the original is never changed.
Tips for a better result
- Fix it once, share it fixed. Rotating the file itself beats telling every recipient to rotate their view. Everyone who opens it afterwards sees it correctly.
- Check every page, not just the first. Scanned documents often mix orientations — one sideways page can hide among dozens of correct ones.
- Rotate before you convert or print. If you plan to turn the PDF into images or print it, straighten the pages first so the output comes out right.
- Keep the original until you are happy. Your original PDF is untouched by the tool, so keep it until you have checked the rotated copy.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to rotate PDF pages?
No. The Rotate PDF tool is free and works without signup. Just open the tool, choose your file, and rotate.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Rotation runs 100% in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.
Can I rotate all pages at once?
Yes, when the whole document is the wrong way round. And when only some pages are wrong, you can rotate just those pages and leave the rest alone.
Will rotating change the quality of my PDF?
No. Rotation only changes each page's orientation. The text, images, and layout stay exactly as they were.
Can I rotate a page back if I turn it the wrong way?
Yes. Just rotate it again in the opposite direction. And since your original file is never changed, you can always start over from it.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The tool works in any modern browser, including phones and tablets, so you can fix a sideways document wherever you are.

1. The short version
TheEditPDF does not collect, store, or see your files. Every tool runs entirely inside your web browser, on your own device. When you choose a PDF, it is read by JavaScript running locally — it is never uploaded to our servers, because we do not operate file-processing servers at all.
2. What we do not collect
- Your documents: PDFs, images, and spreadsheets you process never leave your device. We have no way to access them.
- Accounts: there is no signup and no login, so we hold no usernames, passwords, or profile data.
- File contents: text you extract, signatures you draw, and redactions you make exist only in your browser tab's memory until you download the result.
3. What is collected automatically
Like almost every website, our hosting provider (Vercel) may log basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for security and reliability. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising trackers, or fingerprinting scripts of our own. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated first.
4. Third-party libraries
TheEditPDF loads open-source JavaScript libraries (for example pdf.js and pdf-lib) from public content delivery networks (CDNs). Those CDNs may see a standard request for the library file, exactly as when any site loads a font or script. They do not receive your documents.
5. Children
TheEditPDF is a general-purpose utility not directed at children under 13, and we knowingly collect no personal information from anyone.
6. Your control
Because files never reach us, there is nothing to request, correct, or delete on our side. Clearing your browser data removes any trace of your session from your device.
7. Changes to this policy
If we materially change how TheEditPDF handles information, we will update the date above and describe the change here.
8. Contact

1. What TheEditPDF is
TheEditPDF provides free, browser-based PDF tools — editing, signing, merging, converting, and more. The tools are offered "as is", without warranties of any kind, and may be changed or discontinued at any time.
2. How the tools work
All processing happens locally in your browser using open-source libraries. No file is uploaded to our servers. Because everything runs on your device, results depend on your browser and device capabilities.
3. Acceptable use
- Use TheEditPDF only on documents you own or are authorized to modify.
- Do not use the tools to forge signatures, falsify documents, remove watermarks or copyright notices you have no right to remove, or facilitate wrongdoing.
- Redaction in TheEditPDF burns black boxes into a flattened copy of each page; always verify the downloaded file before sharing sensitive documents.
- Password removal ("Unlock PDF") only works on files you are legally entitled to open, and it converts pages to images.
4. Signatures
Electronic signatures created with TheEditPDF are simple electronic marks, not certified digital signatures. Whether they are legally valid depends on your jurisdiction and the agreement between the parties — for high-stakes contracts, consult a lawyer.
5. Intellectual property
The TheEditPDF name, design, and original text on this site belong to its creator. The underlying processing libraries (pdf.js, pdf-lib, and others) remain the property of their respective open-source authors under their licenses.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TheEditPDF and its creator are not liable for any loss arising from use of the tools — including corrupted files, failed conversions, or documents shared with incomplete redactions. Always keep backups of important originals.
7. Changes
We may update these terms at any time; continued use of the site after changes means you accept them.
